01 The chair

Canes, Dolphins, and pros from every era, each one signed and made out to Steven. It started with one framed photo and never stopped. Sit in the chair, make the wall.
“Mind you, I’ve cut a lot of athletes. But when Deion sat in my chair, I was sweating. You can’t mess up Prime.”

And more over the years: Randy Moss, Amari Cooper, Maurkice and Mike Pouncey, Joe Haden, Cameron Wake, Jaelan Phillips, and head coach Mike McDaniel.
02 The story
Steven Rivera taught himself to cut hair as a teenager in West Perrine, watching barbers work and practicing on neighborhood kids. In 2006, Hurricanes Javarris James and Lance Leggett brought him on at the University of Miami. The locker room noticed, the nickname stuck, and Canes Barber became part of the program.
Two decades later his chair is where Miami football gets ready. He is the barber for the Hurricanes and the Miami Dolphins, he has cut Hall of Famers and Super Bowl champions, and his mobile shop rolls to wherever the next fade is needed. His first signature cut even has a name: the Even Steven. Same city, same pride, same blade.
03 The van
A custom Mercedes Sprinter, put together in 2020 with the backing of NFL quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Inside: one gold chair, a wall of graded cards, and a chalk wall of autographs where Super Bowl winners sign in gold ink.
“Steven, I don’t want anything from you. I just want you to keep going, keep giving back to the community. That’s how you’ll pay me off.”

I’m proud to be a barber in Miami, Florida. The greatest city on earth.”
Steven Rivera, in the Modelo film shot at Hard Rock Stadium.
